We’ll add the best suggestions to the list on this page, and share them with Cape Town’s climate change leaders who are supporting and participating in the campaign. I live in a flat in PMB. Three tips that save electricity and ourselves at least R300 a month.
1. We use a two plate gas cooker (from a small cylinder) instead of the Electric stove. Gas fill-up costs us about R80 every 4 months !Infrequent cooking in the oven.
2. We keep the geyser switched off. When we need hot water we turn it on for an hour.
3. We have replaced all our light bulbs with low watt fluorescent bulbs
I turn off the shower while shaving my legs, this also makes a little change.
I’m saving electricity, by having a ‘use it – switch it’ mentality. By switching off what I’m not using. I’m not just helping out, I’m saving money in my pocket
